We understand the nature of gun violence
Our approach is rooted in the reality that a small percentage of a city’s population drives a significant portion of that city’s firearm assaults.
We fill a critical gap
Most gun crimes remain unsolved, leaving open the door to future violence. We reach those that law enforcement can’t, bringing critical resources to a high-need, high-risk population.
We focus
Other approaches address broad violence prevention and gang violence. We focus only on the people at the core of gun hostilities.
We are independent and nimble
As a nonprofit, we have the flexibility to iterate and innovate in a sector that is in dire need of new approaches.
We save lives
Since launching the Fellowship in Richmond, CA, in 2010, 94% of our Fellows remain alive and 77% have had no new gun charges since becoming a Fellow.
We build trust
We treat our Fellows like they are our own children. The relationship is the intervention and the intervention is the relationship. Our persistent, holistic delivery fosters trust.
We are cost-effective
Our annual program costs $40K per Fellow vs $400K in government costs if that Fellow were shot.

We will catalyze change by creating an ecosystem to organize, mobilize, and advocate for increased opportunity and expenditure directed towards comprehensive, developmental, community driven approaches that effectively disrupt gun violence in American urban neighborhoods.

We will shift the narrative by changing the national conversation around gun violence, moving the debate to focus attention and resources on American urban neighborhoods.
